Adam’s Corner Cafe

The Story.

Through the Cornell Einhorn Center for Community Engagement, my Design Graphics studio had my team and I redesign a local cafe in Ithaca. Upon visiting the space, we pinpointed several functional and aesthetic flaws in the cafe that informed our redesign. The owner’s priority was to maintain their current customer base while attracting a younger audience to drive business. After conversations with the owner and customers, and collections of on-site data, we presented our renderings of the reimagined space.

The Design.

Aesthetic.

A revitalized Adam’s Corner Cafe embodies the vibrant community, organic color, and iconic nature of Ithaca. Homey details are blended with natural elements such as reclaimed wood and indoor greenery to reflect Ithaca’s surroundings.

Functional.

Analysis of the previous layout allowed us to rework the space for less congestion and improved customer flow. Thoughtful seating placement allows customers to both socialize and find individual solace.

Increased efficiency, customer capacity,

Supporting local artisans has been a cafe tradition, which we preserved by featuring different pieces from within Ithaca.
